Infant Massage

Infant Massage is beneficial for both baby and parent in many ways. Gentle, loving touch can help to improve blood and oxygen flow throughout Baby's body, promote strong bonds while building empathy and trust, and regulate the digestive and immune systems. Infant massage has also been shown to reduce PPD and PPA in postpartum mothers due to the increase of oxytocin and prolactin and the decrease in cortisol.

My favorite part of this course though, and arguably the most beneficial, are the relationships built and support found when parents come to each class. The parents who attend this course with their infants are showing up in their most vulnerable state. Tired, sore, with spit up on their shoulder, running three hours of sleep, and yet still, they show up.
And I will welcome you with open arms every time.
Nothing to book right now. Check back soon.

No, neither of the Flora's Forest Friends programs are drop off programs. This is a guardian-attended program, meaning an adult MUST stay with your child. Adults are encouraged to participate alongside their children!
  • How big are the class sizes?
Enrollment closes at 10 children/babies per class for both Flora's Forest Friends programs to ensure small class sizes.

  • What is the class flow?
First and foremost, these are both child/baby-led programs. I head into each class with a lesson and an idea of how I want the class to go, however I will follow their lead if they take the learning in a different direction. I want to honor their creativity and individuality and learn from them as much as they learn from the class. There may be lulls in the play while they take a minute to think over their next move. Please don't let this discourage you from the program! These moments are when we can celebrate their thought process and independence as they show us what it is they want to do next.
  • Are children ages 2-8 together during classes?
Flora's Forest Friends: Yes! The children's program is a mixed-age program because mixed-age play beneficial for all! Younger children are introduced to new ways of thinking they may not have come up with on their own by watching the older children. The older children have the opportunity to exercise skills such as patience, teamwork, and empathy while they are around the littles. There is opportunity for play for all ages attending classes, though they may look different from day to day depending on the child and the lesson. Even if your child isn't jumping in to play with the other children, you can feel confident that they are learning as they observe! Flora's Forest Friends for Babies: Only babies ages 3 - 24 months (give or take a few months) will be participating in these classes. For questions about older siblings, please contact me.
  • Can I get a refund?
Yes, if the refund is requested by email 14 days before the first class. Please review the full refund policy listed as the last FAQ. If you enroll your child or baby during the 14 day time period before the first class, the program is considered final sale and you are not eligible for a refund.
  • What happens if I can't attend a class?
Credits or refunds are not offered for either program if you are unable to attend your class time due to a last-minute appointment, obligation, sickness, etc. If you're aware when enrolling that you will be unable to attend a class, let me know as soon as you've enrolled and I will give you a drop-in credit. This will enable you to drop-in on a class during the next season of classes. You must use this drop in credit within the next season. This is only available to families who communicate future schedule conflicts with me the day of their enrollment. If you wait, you are NOT eligible for a drop-in credit.
  • What if you cancel a class?
If I have to cancel a class due to illness or a last minute flat tire (speaking from past experience!) I first will contact families to come up with a reschedule date that works for the majority. If you're unable to attend the reschedule date, I will gladly refund you for the cancelled class!
  • What's your weather policy?
While my goal is to get families playing outside during all seasons, there are times when Mother Nature provides us unsafe play conditions. Unsafe weather conditions can include: temperatures above 100° with a high heat index, temperatures below 32° with high winds, temperatures in the teens and single digits, and severe weather watches/warnings (thunderstorms, lightning, tornadoes, etc.). Severe storm threats will garner an immediate reschedule, but in this line of early childhood education we have to be flexible! That being said, sometimes considerations can be made before the decision to reschedule is made. If it's a very hot day and the heat index is high, we can add shade, hydration, and ice into the lesson to keep cool. If the weather is chilly, we can dress our warmest, move our bodies frequently, use hand warmers, and have a nice cup of tea afterwards to stay toasty. I respect your decision to sit class out if you feel uncomfortable with the weather, however if class goes on as scheduled and you choose not to attend, you will not receive a refund or credit. Again, severe weather watches and warnings will result in an immediate reschedule. As I can't control the weather, refunds will not be offered if you can't make the rescheduled class- but please know that I do my absolute best to find a time that works for all families so we can all continue to play together!
  • What's your refund policy?
Flora's Forest Friends and Flora's Forest Friends for Babies enrollment refund requests must be made by email at floranye@youandibgky.com 14 days before the first class. If you enroll during the 14 day time period before the first class, the season is considered final sale and you are not eligible for a refund. If the refund period has passed but you are unable to attend the season, I can offer you a credit for a different session to be used within the next season. Once the refund period has passed, you may request a credit during the 13 days before the first class. The day before the first class is the deadline to request a credit. You must contact me by email by the day before the first class to receive a credit. If you don't come to the first class, you will be considered a no show and will not be eligible for a credit. Of course extenuating circumstances can be worked with, so please contact me if you need special consideration! I'm happy to work with you.
